GovState Wins Again - To National Finals- Round of 16 in Iowa March 20-25! - #3 Campbellsville Friday

***Update*** - NAIA Nationals -  Round of 16 - Governors State (28-5) vs. #3 Campbellsville, KY (28-3) - Friday, March 21, 6 PM CST - 

Team leaves for bus trip #2 of the 2025 NAIA Tournament on Tuesday, March 18. Three weeks of tournament competition for the Jaguars - winning three games to win the CCAC Conference Post-Season Tournament (Feb. 26 - March 3), NAIA Nationals First-Second Round wins (March 14-15 plus 2 days of bus rides), & now March 18-25 to Iowa.

Second Round Game Summary, GovState 75-69 win over Dakota State University March 15:

GovState women's basketball wins 2nd round game at NAIA Nationals Saturday beating #8 ranked Dakota State University (SD) 75-69 to advance to the Round of 16 National Finals March 20-25 in Sioux City, Iowa! For the second straight game at the Madison, SD 1st and 2nd Round site - the Jaguars came out hot and led 19-11 after one quarter. GSU led 35-34 at halftime and the third quarter saw multiple lead changes and the two teams setlled in for a great finish heading into the fourth quarter tied at 53-53 after three.

Dakota State forged ahead 60-55 with 8:31 left in the game but then the GovState defense locked in and limited DSU to only four points over the next six-minute stretch out-scoring the host team 14-4 to take a 69-64 lead into the final two minutes on big baskets by Tabetha Jones, Da'Naria Washington, "Z" Chevre and Cencere McDaniel all scored in the 4th quarter stretch for the win. Kalvina Eubanks had two free throws late to ice it.

Zareia Chevre had a 28 points, 12 rebounds double-double, Da'Naria Washington had 10 assists and 7 rebounds and Tabetha Jones scored 21 points, 5 assists to lead Governors State University (28-5 this season) - 8 straight wins for GSU heading into the Round of 16.  The 28 wins in 2024-25 shatters the previous school record of 23-7 set in the 2023-24 season.
