Jaguars Battle Back With 23-7 Run To 78-78 Deadlock - GovState Comeback Bid Falls 80-78 at IU South Bend

GovState (5-7, 1-3 CCAC) trailed 71-55 with 5:37 remaining before a 23-7 comeback in the final five minutes tied the game at 78-78 with steals and two baskets by Vincent Davis and a three-pointer from Javon Johnson in the final minute.  IU South Bend Kyle Millender hit two free throws with three seconds left and GSU did not get off a last-second three-pointer with the Titans holding on late for the home court CCAC win.

GSU's Javon Johnson led the Jaguars in scoring with a game-high 24 points hitting 9-10 field goals and 4-5 three-pointers.

Vincent Davis scored 16 points and Vincent Mayes 14 points for the Jaguars.

Millender scored 21 points for the Titans (6-5, 3-1) and IU South Bend had four players score in double figures with Jylen Petty 13, Shawn Brown 12, Nick Mullen 10 for the home-standing Titans (30-55 field goals, 55% from the field in the win). IU South Bend led 36-31 at the half.

Governors State next plays at home Saturday in the GSU ARC hosting Judson University at 3 p.m. in a men's-women's conference double header (women's game at 1 p.m.).
