LAKERS END JAGUARS WINNING STREAK AT SIX - ROOSEVELT BEATS GSU 70-52 AT HOME

CHICAGO, Illinois - -

Roosevelt University avenged an earlier season loss to Governors State and won its fifth straight game beating the Jaguars 70-52 Wednesday Night.

GSU beat the Lakers 54-49 on November 29 in the ARC with a comeback win in the final five minutes and the Lakers turned the tables winning by 18 at home leading 19-10 after the first quarter and 38-25 at half.

The Lakers forced 15 GSU turnovers in the first half and limited the Jaguars to shooting 17-58 field goals (29%) in the ball game.

GSU (15-4, 9-2 CCAC) shot only 2-14 three pointers (14 %).

CCAC Player of the Week Zareia Chevre had a double-double for the second straight game and led GSU with 20 points, 10 rebounds hitting 7-19 field goals.

The Lakers (10-9, 8-3 CCAC) now move one game behind the Jaguars in the race for second place in the conference, which has major ramifications.

If the same team wins the regular season and tournament championships (#17 unbeaten IU South Bend is 19-0, 11-0 CCAC), the second automatic berth to the NAIA National Tournament would go to the team that earned the No. 2 seed in the conference tournament.

Angelique Cowan scored 10 points and led the team with 6 assists for the Jaguars who next play Saturday at Saint Xavier, 1 PM.
