JAGUARS WIN 73-64 AT ST. FRANCIS FOR FOURTH STRAIGHT VICTORY, NOW 13-3, 7-1 CCAC

JOLIET, Ill. - -

The Jaguars won their fourth straight game beating St. Francis 73-64 in Joliet.

Governors State (13-3, 7-1 CCAC) featured a team performance of four players scoring in double figures led by Zareia Chevre (22 points, 6 rebounds). Chevre hit 10-15 field goals, totaled three assists and had a team-high 5 steals in the conference road victory.

Tabetha Jones scored 13 points, 6 rebounds, 4 assists, Ce'niyah Hampton and Da'Naria Washington both scored 12 points in the balanced GSU scoring with the Jaguars hitting 46% from the field (30-66 field goals).

St. Francis (7-8, 3-4 CCAC) battled tough all game long and the Fighting Saints took the lead 41-40 with 4:07 to play in the third quarter. GSU forged back with a 11-4 run to lead 51-45 after three quarters. The Jaguars out-scored SFU 22-19 in the fourth quarter to win for the 10th time in the last 11 games.

GSU's defense forced 20 St. Francis turnovers and the team offense included 20 assists on 30 field goals led by Hampton with five dimes and Angelique Cowan with 5 assists.

Cowan set the new GSU school career record for assists last month and has 188 career assists breaking Ariana Dampier's mark of 160 assists during her career (2018-2020).

The Jaguars next play at Holy Cross next Wednesday, January 17, 4:30 CST.
