GSU'S TABETHA JONES NAMED CCAC CONFERENCE PLAYER OF WEEK
- The Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference named Tabetha Jones (GSU Grad student, 5-8 SF, Chicago, IL, Kankakee High School) Women's Basketball Player of the Week (November 20-26).
CHICAGO ---Averaging better than 20 points per game during a busy three-game stretch over six days, Governors State University's Tabetha Jones (Chicago, Ill.) has been named the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the seven-day period ending Nov. 26. The league office made the announcement Tuesday afternoon.
Jones averaged 20.7 points and 6.0 rebounds over the three contests and led Governors State to the title game of the Siena Heights University (Mich.) Thanksgiving Tournament over the weekend. That also resulted in the graduate student forward claiming a spot on the SHU All-Tournament Team along with teammate Angelique Cowan.
Jones began the week with 21 points, three rebounds, two assists, two steals and two blocks in a league-opening 83-47 victory over Trinity Christian College last Tuesday.
That effort was followed by her double-double (22 points, 10 rebounds) in the Jaguars' 63-59 victory over Washington Adventist University (Md.) on Saturday in game 1 of the SHU Tournament.
Jones then closed out the weekend with 19 points, five rebounds, in the 61-45 title-game setback to Siena Heights on Sunday.
Governors State is 4-2, 1-0 CCAC on the season and next hosts Roosevelt University in conference, Wednesday, November 29, 5 p.m. in the GSU ARC.
