Taylor, Rhone Honored with All-Academic Awards

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL—The Governors State men's basketball program has placed a pair of players on the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team. Junior guard Adam Taylor and sophomore forward Glenn Rhone are first-time honorees for the award.

The CCAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes with cumulative grade-point averages above 3.25 (entering the Spring 2022 term) who have been enrolled for one academic year and have completed at least 30 semester hours.

Taylor paced the Jaguars in 3-pointers (58) while finishing second in scoring, averaging 9.4 points over 29 games. An elementary education major, Taylor made a 3-point basket in 15 consecutive games and set a school season record with a .905 free throw percentage (38-for-42). He was GSU's leading scorer in six contests, highlighted by a season-high 23 points against Trinity Christian on February 9.

Rhone scored 11 points on three occasions, going 3-for-3 in 3-pointers against Bethel on October 27. He appeared in 13 games and made 10 starts before suffering a season-ending injury in mid-December. A business marketing major, Rhone made the GSU Athletics Honor Roll during the fall and spring terms.
