Women's Indoor Track With Strong Performances At Olivet University Indoor Meet II

Women's Indoor Track With Strong Performances at Olivet University Indoor Meet II - Saturday, January 25

GovState Head Men's and Women's Indoor Track Coach John Niendorf commented on his women's team at ONU:

"I was pleased with the way my athletes opened up the indoor season at Olivet this past Friday. They came into the season is good shape and this will be something we can build upon for the rest of the season. On the women's side, Kaylee O'Sullivan, Sydney Bonham, and Morgan Pieczynski placed 2nd, 3rd, and 5th respectively in the 800-meter dash. In the mile Sophie Hummitisch and Camila Mendez took 4th and 5th. They both fought hard throughout the entire race, and it was a nice debut for Sophie."

"The 3k was exciting to watch as well. Krysta Stanko was the meet champion in the event, followed closely by Kaylee O'Sullivan, who finished 2nd overall in the race. I loved the way that they both worked through the race and kicked early to separate themselves the last couple laps. Daija Brown, Trinity Bonham, and Jada Cunningham also took 6th, 7th, and 8th place respectively in the 400-meter dash as well. Our first ever GSU thrower, Oluwatosin King, made her debut on Friday and made it to finals. She took 7th overall in the meet."

"Overall, I was proud of our men's and women's team and I felt that they came out with a new focus this indoor track season. They will all have a good chance of placing well at the conference meet and I think the momentum starting from this opener is going to carry us into a great track season. There is still a lot of work to be done and this is just the beginning, but I am happy with what we have out out there thus far," said Coach Neindorf.
