Jaguars With 5th Place Finish at Leatherneck Classic in Rockford, Illinois Nov. 9-10

GSU Head Women's Bowling Coach Melanie McDaniel was very pleased with her team's performamce this weekend.

"We started off day one super strong, shooting a team score of 947, which was good for 2nd place after the first game. The ladies never fell past 6th place for the duration of the event. They stayed consistent and filled frames when needed.

"We went into day two of the event, with 16 baker games ahead of us. We battled back and forth between 4th and 5th place, which ended up 20 pins behind William Penn."

"We qualified 5th for the bracket having to bowl against William Penn, the ladies lost 2-0 in a best of 3 match.

"I'm so proud of their continuous fight and grit. These ladies want to win. They continue to knock on the door and tear down all the walls in front of them as such a young team. They know everyone looks at them as the underdogs being a second-year program, which has really lit their fire to want to do better. These ladies work so hard in practice and it's showing. They are out there making a name for themselves, and our program and I couldn't be prouder."

The Jaguars were lead in scoring by Sophomore, Haley Leuze (4 games averaging 203) and Grad Student, Olivia Daujatas averaging 189.6.
