Men's Indoor Track Competes at Olivet Nazarene University Indoor Meet II In Bourbonnais Friday 1/24 -
GSU Head Men's and Women's Indoor Track Coach talked about his top men's finishes at the ONU Meet II:
"On the men's side, there were a number of athletes who placed throughout the meet, and I loved the tenacity they showed throughout the season opener. Clark Fremouw was the first ever GSU male thrower to make his debut for the program. He came out and placed 2nd overall in the meet, throwing 14.96 meters in the shotput. He has been putting in a lot of work in the offseason and he will have a good chance to make it to Nationals this year. Daniel Wright made it to finals in the 60-meter dash, taking 8th in the meet. He also took 4th and 6th in the 200 and 400-meter dash respectively. Chance Lorde finished 8th in the 400 as well. Both Daniel and Chance have been working hard all Summer, Fall, and Winter, so it was nice to see them have some success. Colin O'Brien finished 6th in a very competitive 1000-meter heat. In the mile Samuel Rocio, the freshman of the year for cross country, took 7th overall. In the 3000-meter race, Daniel Zavala finished 7th and ran a 9:02 in the meet."
"Overall, I was proud of our men's and women's team and I felt that they came out with a new focus this indoor track season. They will all have a good chance of placing well at the conference meet and I think the momentum starting from this opener is going to carry us into a great track season. There is still a lot of work to be done and this is just the beginning, but I am happy with what we have out out there thus far."
