
Men's Soccer Jaguars - Marcal Salom Chandre - Rafael Silverio - CCAC Players of the Week

Governors State University men's soccer players - Marcal Salom Chandre and Rafael Silverio were named Defensive and Offensive Players of the Week in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC).
Chandre, a Sophomore, G from Spain had a 6-0 shutout win vs. Dordt University making five saves in his first game of the 2024 season.
Silverio, a Senior, F from Belo Horizonte, Brazil and a transfer to GSU, scored two goals and two assists in the first two GovState matches of 2024.

GSU Sweeps First Men's Soccer Weekly Awards Courtesy of Silverio, Chandre
CHICAGO --- Governors State University has claimed a sweep of the initial Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's soccer weekly awards for 2024 courtesy of the performances of Rafael Silverio (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) and Marcal Salom Chandre (Tona, Catalonia, Spain), the CCAC league office announced on Tuesday morning.
Silverio was named the CCAC Offensive Player of the Week after scoring a pair of goals and providing two assists in a 1-0-1 week. The senior forward authored the game-tying goal with 35 seconds remaining in an eventual 2-2 deadlock with Midland University (Neb.) on Thursday. He followed that up with one goal and two assists in a 6-0 shutout of Dordt University (Iowa) on Saturday.
The contests were the first two as a Jaguar for Silverio, who transferred in from Francis Marion University (SC).
Chandre came away recording his first shutout of the season en route to CCAC Defensive Player of the Week accord. The sophomore goalkeeper stopped five shots on the day in the win over Dordt.
The contests were the first two on the season for Governors State.
