JAGUARS LOSE AT THE ARC WEDNESDAY 95-76 Vs. MARIAN UNIVERSITY (Indiana)
UNIVERSITY PARK, Illinois - Playing the top ranked teams in the NAIA has been a challenging pre-CCAC schedule for the Jaguars (2-5) to start the 2023-24 season.
And the Marian University (5-0) Knights were impressive Wednesday night at the GSU ARC beating Governors State 95-76
Marian's Brady Whitaker led all players in the game with 22 points, leading the Knights in both rebounds with seven and assists with five. Josh Bryan finished the game shooting 7-for-9 from the field and 6-of-7 from downtown, scoring 20 points in 14 minutes. Gus Etchison scored 18 points, and Maximus Gizzi had 11 points to go with five assists. Jackson Ames finished with five points and six rebounds, adding a pair of blocked shots.
Marian shot 57 percent from the field and 52 percent from three in the win, scoring 45 of their 95 points from beyond the arc.
GSU Freshman Vincent Davis led the Jaguars with a 14 points, 10 rebounds double-double and four players scored in double figures - Jeremiah Johnson 11, Kyle Jackson 10, Jalen Levy 10 for Governors State.
The Jaguars next play in the 2023-24 CCAC opener at Trinity Christian in Palos Heights, November 21, 7:30 p.m. in a men's-women's doubleheader - GSU women play Trinity Christian at 5:30.
