Men's - Women's Outdoor Track Season Opener March 28 in St. Louis at the Distance Carnival Meet at Washington University
GovState men's and women's outdoor track 2025 season opener is Friday, March 28 in St. Louis, Missouri
The Jaguars are competing in the 2025 Distance Carnival Meet hosted by Washington University, 1:30 PM start on the WU campus.
GovState Head Men's and Women's Track and Field Coach John Niendorf looks forward to the start of the 2025 outdoor season for his teams.
"The athletes have been working hard this entire week, and they haven't had a meet for the entire month of March. I am excited to see what the distance squad can do for this first meet. This first meet is a famous distance carnival down at Washington University in St. Louis, " said Coach Niendorf.
"This track meet has been going on for years and it is quite famous in the distance running world. It only features distance events on the day that we are going and every athlete will be doing the 5k. Hundreds of athletes from the JUCO, NAIA, D1, D2, and D3 levels all compete at this meet. The WashU distance carnival is a highly competitive meet and that should push many of athletes to a big personal record. It is supposed to be over eighty degrees on Friday, but I know that our athletes will push through the conditions and compete with all the excellent fields of runners."
This is year #2 of outdoor track NAIA competition for Governors State University.
Next GSU track teams will be at the April 3-5 Chicagoland Invitational in Elmhurst, Illinois.
