"I want to thank the search committee for their time and dedication. Since our first interaction in this process, I immediately felt welcomed and looking forward to working with the rest of the coaches at GSU," said Coach Magana.

Magano comes to GSU from Davis & Elkins College in West Virginia, an NCAA Division II school that played in the Iron East Conference. Magana had a two-year record with the Senators of 10-22-3 and his 8-9-2 2022 team had five players earn All-Conference team honors.

Highland qualified for the postseason with a 5-5 conference record. Four of Magaña's freshmen were named to all-conference selection and under his guidance the programs team maintained a GPA of above 3.0.

Before Highland CC, Magana spent a season at NCAA Division II William Jewell in Liberty, Missouri, where he served as men's and women's assistant goalkeeper coach supporting player development. Magana served as men's assistant for one season at McPherson College in McPherson, Kansas, prior to his stop at William Jewell.

Magana worked four seasons at his alma mater, Lees-McRae College in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where he served as head women's coach.

At Lees-McRae, Magana coached eight all-Conference players, four all-Tournament players, and one Conference Player-of-the-Year. He also served on the NCAA Division II Soccer Regional Advisory Committee, as well as serving as an NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Site Representative.

Magana also had coaching positions at Bellevue College in Bellevue, Washington, first serving as an assistant men's and women's coach and then three seasons as head women's coach. Program highlights under Magaña's tutelage include a program record for goals scored in a season, a program record for shutouts, three NWAC All-Star players, and two players named to the NWAC All-Academic Team.

A graduate of Lees-McRae College, Magana was a standout player on the nationally ranked Bobcats squad. In his senior season, Lees-McRae was regular season and conference tournament champions and enjoyed an NCAA Elite 8 Appearance and a Top 3 National ranking.

He began his collegiate playing career at Iowa Central Community College where his teams were top 5 and top 15 nationally in each of his seasons played, respectively. Magana's overall collegiate playing record was 64-16-4.
