Bio

Juan Soto is Associate Head Men's Soccer Coach at Governors State University. He began his duties on September 15, 2020.

Soto was a key coaching component in the record-setting 2024 season of GovState men's soccer.

GovState men's soccer 2024 season ended with a 1-0 NAIA Nationals second round loss in Iowa to host and top seed William Penn University.

The Jaguars had a shot go off the cross bar in the first half and the 11 seniors on the team & the 2024 "double championship" GovState team lost to a penalty kick by William Penn in the second half.

The Jaguars (16-3-4) 2024 season record earned the CCAC Regular Season and Playoff Tournament Championships and Coach Eggert's 6th-year program, a third NAIA Nationals appearance in 2024.

In the Fall of 2021, Soto coached with GSU earning its first-ever berth into the NAIA National Tournament as the Jaguars finished in second place in the CCAC standings. GSU also set program records for total wins and conference wins in a season.

During the spring of 2021 Soto helped GSU to a 10-win season as 11 new players joined the team. GSU finished third in the conference standings and advanced to the CCAC Tournament Championship Game.

Soto has 16 years of soccer coaching experience at various age groups and levels. He has served on the boys soccer coaching staff at Morton High School in Hammond, Indiana, helping the Governors to their first sectional championship in school history.

A native of Hammond, Indiana, Soto earned a bachelor's degree in Humanities, Education and Social Science from Purdue Northwest in 2020.
