Governors State University Athletics Announces Men's Volleyball Program To Start in The 2024-25 School Year - Coach Reyes Head Coach of Both Men's and Women's
GSU Athletic Director Tony Bates announced today that the Jaguar men's volleyball program will be competing in varsity NAIA competition, effective immediately for the 2024-2025 school year. The Jaguars will be coached by Head Coach Jessica Reyes who will coach both the men's and women's teams at GSU. Men's volleyball will be the 15th varsity team sport for Jaguar Athletics, who will be competing in year #10 of athletics in 2024-25.
"We are excited to announce that we will be adding Men's Volleyball to our sports family here at GSU in the Fall ! Coach Reyes will be recruiting high level Student-Athletes to be on our first team ever! We would like to thank our President Dr. Green and VP's for believing in the growth of Athletics," said Tony Bates.
Coach Jessica Reyes will be the head coach of both men's and women's volleyball at GovState (she was head coach of both Calumet St. Joseph men's and women's volleyball teams, leading the CCSJ men's team to the CCAC championship game in 2024, 20-9 overall and 8-2 in conference play record).
"I am excited to be the Head Coach of Men's and Women's Volleyball teams at Governors State University," said Coach Reyes. "I will recruit to GSU the student-athletes to compete for CCAC conference championships in both sports. Go Jaguars!"
