GSU's New Assistant Athletic Director - Chandra Thompson Starts On Campus August 1

UNIVERSITY PARK, IL - Governors State University Athletic director Tony Bates announced that Chandra Thompson has been named Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance and Student Success. Thompson joins the Jaguars effective July 16, and will be part of the Athletics management team for the 14 GSU men's and women's sports.

"I'm excited that we are able to add a talented Assistant Athletic Director to our team. Ms. Thompson brings energy, experience and passion. She has the personality to work well with administrators ,coaches and our student-athletes," said Bates of new Assistant AD Thompson.

Thompson, a Birmingham, Alabama native was previously Assistant Athletic Director of Compliance, Game Day Operations and Academics at Stillman College, Tuscaloosa, Alabama, NAIA, from 2016-2022. Thompson was also Assistant Compliance Coordinator at Stillman and a Graduate Assistant (Athletics) at Grambling State University (Louisiana).

Chandra has earned a Bachelor of Science Degree (Business Administration) from Stillman College and a Master of Science Degree (Sports Administration) from Grambling State University.
