Coach John Niendorf was very pleased with his teams' performances last weekend at the ONU Spring Invitational Meet in Boubonnais, IL.

"It was a fantastic day today for all our Jaguar athletes. There were personal records shattered across the board today. Firstly, it was a historic day for Clark Fremouw as he was the first ever track and field athlete to qualify for Nationals for GSU. Clark threw 49.33 meters in the discus to punch his ticket to Indiana Wesleyan University for the National meet. I couldn't be prouder of the young man as he has worked so hard all season, and he deserves this so much."

"On the men's side there was a lot to be happy with. We had our men's debut steeple chase runners with Colin O'Brien and Elija Jones. Colin O'Brien took 3rd overall with a 10:03 3k steeple and Elija Jones took 6th with a 10:59. In the 5k, Ryan Gayton broke his own personal record by almost twenty seconds. Austin Martin placed 6th in the Triple Jump. Sean O'Brien pr'd in the javelin, throwing 36.56 meters and took 6th place overall. Daniel Wright, Russell Ward, and Chance Lorde went 49.92, 51.90, and 52.24 in the 400-meter dash, respectively. Chance Lorde also pr'd in the 200 with a 23.38. In the 1500 and 800 Samuel Rocio, Christopher Sacayon, Alejandro Vieyra, Peter Taylor, and Antoine Morgan all achieved personal records. Damian Alvarado also beat his personal bests in the 400 hurdles."

"On the women's side, it was another historic day. Krysta Stanko took second place overall in the 1500, running a 4:50. She also ran a 2:22 800, placing 6th overall. Sydney Bonham ran a 5:01, beating her previous best, and then ran a 2:25 800. Kaylee O'Sullivan and Avery Kittl ran 5:06 and 5:12 respectively in the 1500. Sophie Hummitsch, Morgan Pieczynski, Yahaira Rodriguez, Jinni Jimenez, Madison Siergiej, Ava Tomala, Diana Perez, Jennifer Tomasic, and Sophia Perez all hit personal records in the 1500 and 800-meter races. Camila Mendez took 6th overall and ran a personal record of 20:09 in the 5k. Oluwatosin King made her official discus debut today and threw 30.00 meters, placing 10th overall."

"Trinity Bonham, Lanyia Wooden, Jada Cunningham and Alyssa Dillinger both hit pr's in the 200-meter dash. In the 400 Avery Kittl and Laniya Wooden each hit personal bests. Overall, I was excited to see such amazing efforts out of all the athletes today. They all raced tough and there was no fear in the way they went out there and handled their business. I feel that they are getting more confident and learning to race with a lot of pride. I am looking to forward to the next few meets left on the schedule to see how much more these young athletes can grow, " said Coach Niendorf.
