GSU Head Track and Cross Country Coach John Niendorf announced that Omar Mohamed Will Transfer from Mohawk Valley (N.Y) Community College to Governors State University for the 2024-25 School Year
Highlights: Mohamed is a Junior College national champion and multiple time JUCO All-American.
Omar Mohamed said why he chose GSU: "One of the main reasons I picked GSU is because I remember talking to my coach about where I wanted to go after MV and he said something that really stuck with me. He told me to pick somewhere I think I would have an impact and I think GSU would be a perfect fit for me because I can definitely contribute to the team here. There are special things coming for GSU and I want to contribute to that. I would also say the love and respect GSU had showed me and is like no others. The multiple conversations Coach Niendorf and I had made me feel wanted and respected. That definitely made me feel like I belong there!"
Coach John Niendorf said: "We are ecstatic that Omar is joining us next season. He is a seasoned runner that has the makeup of a great athlete. He is so driven and motivated to make this team great, that he is going to be a huge boost to our team. The young man has such a great work ethic and mindset. It's going to be fun watching Omar run next season. Omar has already ran a 25:46 8K!"
